Circa mid-1980's, my best friend and I were really wanting some good barbeque and great barbeque sauce. We both agreed however, that all of the sauces that could be bought in the grocery stores were too sweet. So on that Saturday afternoon, we set out to make our own barbeque sauce with just the right amount of tang and a little heat. After several failed attempts and several trips to the local grocery store, we finally hit on a sauce that we were looking for. We were so impressed with what we had created, we scrambled to remember and write down the ingredients and amounts of ingredients for the sauce we had just made so we could duplicate it in the future. Since then, I have modified and perfected that recipe a few times until I finalized the recipe for my first sauce, Yona's™ Original Barbeque Sauce.
The sauce that Yona's Foods™ makes is made from the finest of ingredients that we blend together to proudly make the best barbeque sauce you have ever tasted. What's in a name? Being of Native American ancestry, in particular Cherokee and my name being Barry, I have been called Bear (for short) by many and most. The Cherokee pronunciation for bear is yona. Hence the name of my sauce and our companies name, Yona's Foods™.

Colorado Proud I have been asked many times by many people wanting to know what type or style of sauce Yona's™ Original Barbeque Sauce is. Is it Memphis style, is it Kansas City style, is it Texas style, is it Carolina style...? My answer has always been plain and simple! It is Colorado Style. I am a Colorado native born and bred. I have never lived anywhere else and I have no desire to live anywhere else. Colorado is by far the most beautiful acreage that God ever created and he placed it at a high altitude so we would always be closer to him. I like to think that my barbeque sauce is as awesome as this place called Colorado is. I hope you will try some and feel the same way too and continue your patronage for many more orders to come. Yona's™ Original Barbeque Sauce is made and packaged right here is Colorado and as long as my name is on the label, that will never change.
